I am an actor, writer and film-maker currently residing in Los Angeles, but always wandering this earth. I trained as actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama and have performed in lead roles in theatre with the Royal Shakespeare Company, on television in The BAFTA winning cop show, "The Bill", where I played Detective Sergeant Turner in over 100 episodes. Most recently, since moving to LA, I was cast in Luc Besson's new movie "Colombiana", set for release in late 2011.
I've always written and I've always loved films. My tastes are varied; I love Bergman's "Persona" as much as I love Tony Scott's "Top Gun". For different reasons, but I see the value in all film forms.
My first short film was inspired by the war in Iraq. "War Hero", like much art, was born of anger, but as the project progressed, it became about love. It premiered at the Hollywood Film Festival.
My second short was commissioned by the UK Film Council (now evaporated by the coalition government) under the Digital Shorts scheme. "Jubilee" was a response to the rising popularity of far-right political parties in the UK. But it was about love, disguised as politics.
I have since been delevoping feature film projects with the UK Film Council (not anymore!), Film 4, B3 Media and The Binger Film Lab, Amsterdam.
